Steve and Maggie
tackle throwaway culture
Throwing out old appliances, floor
coverings and even bathtubs could be a thing of the
past thanks to a new business launched in South East
Wales by husband and wife team Steve and Maggie
Williams.
They have introduced to the UK and
mainland Europe revolutionary US-owned technology
that provides environmentally - friendly
restoration, repair, re-colouring and resurfacing of
a huge range of items.
Their new business, All Surface
Technology Ltd, is being launched from new premises
in New Inn, near Pontypool, with help from
management consultancy, CODA Business Management
Ltd, based in Newport, and support from the
European Regional Development Fund.
Steve, who has created the new
venture after a career in the voice and data
communications sector, says All Surface Technology
has already created seven jobs, including two new
Modern Apprenticeships.
“In essence, we provide an
alternative to throwing out everything from cabinets
and Work tops to appliances and sinks,” he said. All
Surface’s licensed technology allows everything to
be resurfaced in situ, and will targeting homes and
commercial premises.
“The beauty is that households and
businesses will no longer need to throw away items
that are either partially or severely damaged,
scratched or aged. As well as cost advantages, there
is an enormous environmental benefit to us all in
the longer term,” Steve added.
“Such is the sophistication of the
technology that we offer a range of textures from a
smooth to granite effect, coupled with colour
choices ranging into the thousands in matt or high
gloss finish,” he said.
All Surface has been assisted by
CODA’s Aspire Programme, which with Welsh
Development Agency support offers mentoring and
specialist consultancy to ambitious entrepreneurs in
South East Wales whose business ideas demonstrate
strong growth potential.
CODA business mentor Steve Allen
said, “Steve and Maggie have done a tremendous job
in sourcing a product that is truly unique and then
setting about its launch in the UK and Europe.
“Their new premises in New Inn have
been superbly kitted out as a showroom and technical
training centre, which will serve as a platform on
which to build employee and customer numbers in the
next few years.”
